August is Back to School Safety Month and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency highlights resources, tools, and stakeholder events for the education community! These initiatives are designed to enhance security measures and build resilience against various threats and hazards, ensuring a safer future for all.
CISA actively works with the kindergarten through grade 12 (K-12) to provide information, guidance, technical assistance and other resources to help K-12 stakeholders reduce their cyber and physical security risk while increasing their resilience and capability. This August follow CISA on social media as they highlight both cybersecurity and physical security resources for K-12 and beyond.
Included in this resource is a newly developed K-12 School Security Guide, part of CISA's K-12 School Security Guide Product Suite. The suite contains a guide, web-based tool and training videos designed to assist K-12 campuses and districts improve school physical security.
The National Center for School Safety (NCSS) is focused on improving school safety and preventing school violence. NCSS is based at the University of Michigan School of Public Health and is an affiliated project of the Institute for Firearm Injury Prevention. NCSS is the Bureau of Justice Assistance Students, Teachers, and Officers Preventing (STOP) School Violence National Training and Technical Assistance Center. As a multidisciplinary, multi-institutional center, NCSS provides expert-led training, technical assistance, and a database of additional resources to address school safety challenges.
