The Virginia Fusion Center (VFC) is aware of several jurisdictions reporting mass casualty social media threats targeting schools nationwide.
To date, these incidents have been identified as "swatting" false reports intended to provoke a heavy police response.
The threats are being made via TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat social media platforms.
Despite these false reports, it is crucial to remain vigilant and take every threat seriously. We encourage everyone to stay alert, report any suspicious activity immediately, and avoid spreading unverified information. Avoid complacency!
The Virginia Fusion Center will continue to monitor the situation and provide additional direction as appropriate.
