The Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) provides funding support for target hardening and other physical security enhancements and activities to nonprofit organizations that are at high risk of terrorist attack. The intent is to integrate nonprofit preparedness activities with broader state and local preparedness efforts. It is also designed to promote coordination and collaboration in emergency preparedness activities among public and private community representatives, as well as state and local government agencies.
The purpose of this summit is to bring together faith-based organizations and Emergency Managers across the Commonwealth to increase partnership and collaboration.
Throughout the day, participants can expect to hear from several experts in the field on topics such as House of Worship Security Assessments, the role of the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) and the Voluntary Agency Liaison (VAL), Virginia Organizations Active in Disasters (VOAD), Community Engagement, a case study of a House of Worship response to a disaster, and much more.
